Why You Should Budget More and Get A Great Wedding DJ

Let’s start by asking yourself how long you expect the following items to entertain your guests:
Your cake
Your flowers
Your centerpieces
Your decorations
Your veggie tray
Your dinner
Your chair covers
As you can see although these items are all important, none of them are going to entertain your guests for very long.
Most brides wait until the end of their budget to hire their DJ without consideration of the importance that he/she has to the success of your wedding celebration.
Your wedding DJ is actually about 85% responsible for the success of your wedding celebration! Say that out loud to yourself a couple of times before you hire your DJ. If you hire the wrong DJ you will be managing your DJ instead of relaxing and enjoying yourselves with your friends and family!
Your wedding DJ is not supposed to be just someone that shows up and pushes the play button and music comes on! You can hire one like that if you want to, but don’t be surprised if your wedding shows up on Youtube as one of those disaster weddings that you probably heard about.
Your DJ is the one who is supposed to run your wedding reception starting as soon as your ceremony is over until the end of your last dance. He/she is your “day of” coordinator that is the key person between the venue staff and your wedding photographer. He/she is the one that is supposed to be there for you and keep everything rolling on the timeline that you set up. He/she is there for the total entertainment package, which goes far beyond just playing music. Here’s a frightening though for you… the DJ you hire will be alone with your guests for about 45 minutes until you arrive. They will be there representing YOU!

Creative Wedding Photography Ideas Do you think of just the traditional family shots, first kiss, first dance and the wedding cake etc. when it comes to your wedding photos? If so, maybe it’s time to use creative thinking and alternatives to ordinary wedding photography. After all, if a wedding is supposed to be as unique as the couple committing their lives to one another, then why should their wedding photos be any different? Photos are the way to keep the memories of that special day exciting year after year. How do you do that? By coordinating and having an open discussion with your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER to create that unique style you have always dreamed of. For example, instead of having everyone standing up in front of your wedding arch talk to your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER to get ideas. You may be very surprised how helpful your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER will be at bringing forth the creative juices from your mind into gorgeous and unique photos. Tips Make a photo planner (we supply one to all of our clients). A photo planner will insure that your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER will get all your traditional photos along with fun, romantic, and serious poses. Share a copy of the planner with your photographer. Talk to your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER about the photos taken during the ceremony. You may want to add something or your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER may highlight something you have not thought about. Where would you like your photos taken after the ceremony? Whether in a church, a lavish venue, or a picnic style wedding, your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER can offer creative location ideas for beautiful photos. Wishing you all a beautiful eternity! How to entertain children at a wedding by ABETTER DJ AND PHOTOGRAPHER

Image

With family members scattered around the country weddings are precious due the fact it is so difficult to get all your family members under one roof. A family WEDDING also usually means children.  I have learned a few tips in my many years as a WEDDING photographer on how to entertain young children.

TIPS HOW TO ENTERTAIN CHILDREN

1. If you have young children attending your wedding please consider hiring a baby sitter or nanny. This will allow the parents to relax and really enjoy your wedding. Don’t be surprised if the parents are more than willing to pitch in for the cost for a good, reliable sitter or nanny.

2. Have tables set up just for the children with snacks using plastic plates and plastic wear. Have the tables in the back and have the parents’ tables next to them

3. Have small aprons, crayons and paper, washable paint, Play-Doh, games, bean bag toss for example. A good sitter or nanny will be able to keep them busy if she has the right tools.

4. Allow the children to be a part of the wedding reception by letting them to speak in the DJ’s microphone before or after the toast or all sing a song to the bride and groom.

5. When it comes to the wedding cake, have cupcakes and different toppings for the kids. Allow them to decorate their own cupcake.

6. Have a photo area set up with funky hats, sunglasses, feathered boas, etc. And have time set aside for the WEDDING photographer to capture their photos (during dinner is usually a good time as most children will eat when they are hungry)

7. Have the parents bring pillows and blankets because usually by the end of the night you will have sleepy- heads in a corner as the parents dance the night away.

8. Allow teen children to have their own table as well as well. Let them choose some of the music, but make sure the DJ knows to play music without explicit language.

9. Be sure to take the the opportunity for generation photos. For example, Great-grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, Daughter and Granddaughter. These photos are priceless.

Wedding cake by A BETTER DJ AND PHOTOGRAPHER

Wedding cake
I write from my many years as a wedding photographer to save you time, time will save you money to fit your WEDDING budget
Wedding cake… to smush or not to smush. It is something important that you may want to talk about before your wedding so there are no annulments.
The couple in the photo was laughing before and after the photo. I just captured this classic look with luck on my part.
Traditionally the cake cutting ceremony is a symbol of your union. You both will stand side by side
and with both hands you will slice a piece out of the bottom layer (hold a pose for the photographer) placing it onto a plate, then using your fingers to feed each other.

When it comes to shopping for a wedding cake the price can be very shocking so you really need to put your priorities in order as far as your wedding budget goes. I will share a few tips I have learned to save money on wedding cakes.
• Frosting is cheaper than fondant.
• A small wedding cake for two surrounded by mountains of cupcakes is very acceptable and a lot less expensive.
• You can have the bottom cake be the real McCoy and the top made of Styrofoam. Once you cut the bottom layer and the cake cutting tradition is completed the servers whisk away the fake cake back to the kitchen where sheet cakes are cut and served. No one knows the difference.
• Traditionally the top layer of the cake is saved and frozen in heavy duty freezer bags for your first 1 year WEDDING anniversary. You may want to keep that in mind when you try to figure how big of a cake you need, or you can order a copy cat cake for the following year. (cake frozen for a year is horrible!)
• Keep in mind that a month after your wedding nobody is going to remember your cake. All they are going to remember is you cutting the cake.

Best wishes for eternity

1 month before the wedding by A BETTER DJ AND PHOTOGRAPHER

Last Minute Planning WEDDING TIPS for the D.I.Y Bride

Everything I write comes fromwedding relax real experiences as a PROFESSIONAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER.
I write to save you WEDDING time, which will save you WEDDING money to help you succeed in your WEDDING budget.
Wishing you all a beautiful eternity!
Rina Marie

Do not let all this overwhelm you… take your time, relax and read.

We have done thousands of WEDDINGS and I have witnessed little forgotten details which gave the bride big tears.
I write this to help you remember the little necessities for your big day that I see so often over-looked, making the bride late for her WEDDING.

The month before the WEDDING

Make sure you have a check off list the a month before your WEDDING this will make things go very smooth, the goal is that you won’t have anything to do 3 days prior to your wedding so you can be relaxed and stress free for your special day.

1. WEDDING Garter
2. WEDDING veil
3. WEDDING shoes
4. WEDDING earrings, necklace, bracelets
5. Something borrowed, something new, something old, something blue
6. Under garments, personal hygiene, perfume, make-up
7. WEDDING bands
8. WEDDING LICENSE
9. Call and confirm time of hair, make-up, nails
10. Any medicines you may need
11. Bridesmaids. Each Bridesmaid should have a list themselves.
They should also have added on their list an item to help you prepare for the special day, for example…
Make sure all your bridal party has the phone numbers to your wedding vendors.
*1 week before the wedding a bridesmaid should call to confirm the arrival or pick up time for flowers, bouquets and boutonnieres.
*Who will be pinning the flowers onto the groomsman, ushers, parents, etc.?
Another bridesmaid needs to call the Officiate or church to confirm time of WEDDING and call the reception venue to confirm time and day.

*One needs to make sure all the bridesmaids and groomsmen have their complete attire from bow ties to shoes, socks. This includes the groom
*Another Bridesmaid needs to make sure the flower girl (s) and ring bearer have their complete attire from hair accessories to shoes, socks, ring bearer pillow, flower pedals.
* If you are having a candle ceremony or sand ceremony have someone in charge to make sure they are properly placed where you want them
*bubbles, if you are having bubbles assign someone to pass them out at the proper time (I see these left in baskets all the time)
*Champagne flutes and cake cutting utensils to be properly placed.
*decorating committee
*Ushers (please read my blog about ushers)
Please do not be afraid to ask for help, I recommend to all brides that once you have chosen a bridal party and they accept, mail them a personal thank you card at the same time ask for their assistance and give details, They want to help you that is what a bridesmaid purpose is for.

Read this Before You Hire a Wedding DJ at a Really Cheap Price

Usually my wife and I provide the Wedding DJ and wedding photography services as a team. We add on top rated wedding DJ services (I was recently rated #1 in Florida and top 20 in the U.S.) to our wedding photography package for only $300. Last night we were just the wedding photographers as the couple had already hired a cheap wedding disc jockey before they hired us.

The DJ (we’ll call him DJD) claims to have been in business since 1989.

The disaster started with the introductions:

When he went in to line everybody up 15 minutes after they were ready he forgot 1 of the couples and had to start all over.

Once lined up he came back in and told us he wanted to have the bridal party stop by the DJ area for a photo, then form a circle for the bride and groom to enter. (great idea except the dance floor was 50′ away so we helped him straighten that out)

When he tried to cue up the intro song  after 5 tries finally found the right song and started.

He introduced the bride’s brother and best man as the groom’s brother and maid of honor.

He introduced 2 of the couples with the wrong partner.

Once he introduced the BnG he got the 1st dance song right… after the 3rd try! (at this point I’m thinking we have a new worst wedding DJ youtube)

After the intros:

He said dinner would be in 15 minutes and proceeded to play some swing music (This was very obviously a country music crowd… they had cowboy boots as vases on the tables, the groom and several guests were wearing cowboy hats,  and had they bales of hay and a wagon wheel on each side of the stage)  The food was ready and the guests were starving so they just started helping themselves.

After 15 minutes of swing music and Frank Sinatra he announces the buffet will start and he’ll be going table to table to release them. (half the guests already had food)
